Event Liability Release

This page is the liability release for events connected to this site. It covers two kinds of events. Read the part that matches the event you are attending. The first part covers U.S. Army recruiting events that I staff as a recruiter. The second part covers events and activities that I organize personally through this site. I am Zach, a U.S. Army recruiter who posts as @armyrecruiter.zach. This is a personal recruiting resource. It is not an official U.S. Army or Department of Defense website. This page states the release terms. It is not legal advice.

1. Army recruiting events

I, Participant, on behalf of myself and my heirs, successors and assigns, agree that in connection with my participation in a United States Army recruiting event or interactive activity (the “Event”), I fully and forever release, waive, discharge, and agree not to sue the United States Army, its event marketing and advertising agencies, its Event producers, other participants, sponsoring and participating organizations, the owners and lessees of the premises and equipment used for the Event, and the agents, officers, directors and employees of each of them (the “Releasees”), for any and all claims, causes of action or liability of any kind, including claims for any injury (including death), loss or damages sustained or incurred by me (or my property) arising out of or in any way associated with my participation in the Event, including claims arising out of the negligence of any of the Releasees.

2. Events I organize personally

I, Participant, on behalf of myself and my heirs, successors and assigns, agree that in connection with my participation in an event or activity organized personally by SSG Zach Oppelt through this site (the “Event”), I fully and forever release, waive, discharge, and agree not to sue SSG Zach Oppelt, and any person or organization helping run the Event, including the owners and lessees of the premises and equipment used for the Event, and the agents and employees of each of them (the “Releasees”), for any and all claims, causes of action or liability of any kind, including claims for any injury (including death), loss or damages sustained or incurred by me (or my property) arising out of or in any way associated with my participation in the Event, including claims arising out of the negligence of any of the Releasees.

3. Assumption of risk

I acknowledge that I have voluntarily chosen to assume all risks associated with my participation in the Event, both known and unknown, including those risks that result from the negligence of the Releasees or others, and I assume full responsibility for my participation in the Event.

4. Photos and likeness

I understand that the Event may be photographed, videotaped, or otherwise recorded, and I agree that, for Army recruiting events, the United States Army and its agents, designees and licensees may use my name and likeness (in any form and without regard to any alteration) in photographs, videotapes, audiotapes, and any and all other media, throughout the world, in perpetuity, without any additional consideration to me or to any third party. I shall have no right of approval and no legal claim arising out of any use or editing of my name and likeness. The United States Army and its agents, designees and licensees shall have no obligation to use any of the rights I grant.

For events I organize personally, the same applies to me, SSG Zach Oppelt, and the @armyrecruiter.zach accounts: my name and likeness may be used in recruiting content in any form and any media, throughout the world, in perpetuity, without any additional consideration, with no right of approval and no legal claim arising from any use or editing, and no obligation to use any of the rights granted.

5. Age

You must be at least 16 years old to participate in an Event. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must also agree to this release for you before you participate.
